The Oxford Sojourn: an experience beyond compare!
In keeping with the PGDM course curriculum ,â€The Executive Diploma in International Businessâ€, at ABS prescribes a comparative analysis, in various business quarters, between India and UK, the presentation of which is held every year ,at least twice at Oxford Business College,UK. The study tour is ingeniously designed to bring international exposure to the students with an academic feel. Observing the course curriculum mandate ,this year too, two groups of the PGDM 15-17 batch visited Oxford in August and September ,and the third and last in October. This last study tour for 2015-17 batch was scheduled from the 25th to 30th of October. Students were finding it difficult to contain their excitement throughout the flight. Their joy knew no bounds when landing at Heathrow Airport, London, was announced. From London the students were transported through, a one and a half hour scenic ride by the Stage Coach, to Oxford, the “city of dreaming spires”, a term coined by poet Matthew Arnold. After checking into the hotel the students fished out their questionnaires to begin their UK survey for the entire afternoon and evening in Oxford. On the 27th a short ride took them into Oxford city center towards St Georges Street, where a series of lectures at Oxford Business College were scheduled followed by student’s presentations, after which they were awarded the Executive Diploma in International Business by the Director Dr Padmesh Gupta and Principal GerryTakamura.  Halloween week was on and students dressed in spooky outfits in the evening and participated in the fun with gusto. During their stay at Oxford the students explored the historic town of Oxford, well known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Baliol College, Trinity College, Christ Church College, the Bodlian library, Radcliffe Camera ,buildings from the late Saxon period etc became their haunts .28th and 29th were set aside to exhaustively explore London attractions, like the Westminster Abbey, the Parliament House, Big Ben, Tower of London, Madame Tussauds, the Royal Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly Circus ,historic Hyde Park, cruise on the River Thames-with the imposing London Bridge and to shop at Oxford Street –a shoppers paradise. An awesome exposure and  a tremendous learning experience from an altogether different culture.
