The Consortium of National Law Universities has finally announced the much awaited new date for law entrance CLAT 2020 exam! As per the new schedule, the exam will now be held on 22nd August, 2020. Aspiring students who have not applied can now apply by 10th July, 2020. The application process for CLAT 2020 will remain open until 10th July, 2020.
Here, it may be noted that the candidates would first have to register themselves at consortiumofnlus.ac.in, as stated in the notification.
The Law Entrance Exam was Postponed Thrice due to COVID-19 Pandemic
As is common knowledge, the date for CLAT 2020 law entrance exam – which is the centralized national level entrance exam for the National Law Universities (NLUs) and other undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes in India – has been consistently getting postponed due to ongoing Coronavirus crisis in the country.
At first, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on 10th May, 2020.
Then, it was postponed to 24th May, 2020
Further, it was postponed to 21st June, 2020
The CLAT Entrance Exam 2020 Will Be Conducted Online
The Consortium, after the executive council meeting on 30th June 2020, finally decided that they would be conducting the Common Law Admission Test, 2020 (the “CLAT 2020”) as an online test.
The CLAT 2020 Application Withdrawal Date & Norms
Those candidates who do not wish to appear for CLAT 2020 entrance exam can withdraw their applications by 10th July, 2020.
The fees of such candidates will be refunded after a deduction of Rs 400 for SC/ST candidates and Rs 500 for other candidates as processing fee.
The refund will be reflected by 18th July, 2020.
