Five things MBA/PGDM aspirants should do to not let Coronavirus affect their Career & Growth

Among other things, the onslaught of Coronavirus pandemic has unleashed a wave of negativity all around us. It is here that the age-old success formula

E+R=O

Events + Responses = Outcome

spelled out by Jack Canfield – the American author, motivational speaker, corporate trainer, and entrepreneur – in a simple format becomes most relevant today in our Fight and Survival from the Coronavirus and also to MBA/PGDM students to save their career and growth during this unprecedented coronavirus pandemic.

Here, it may be observed that if we keep on blaming the event and do not prepare ourselves with the Specific Skills required for success, we will not get the results that we want. Hence, with so much time we can focus on Growth and upgrading our skills.

Five ways MBA/PGDM aspirants can change their response:

1.       They should decide their life goal and write it down: According to research done at Asian Business School (ABS), it has been found that people who have written their Life goals have been able to achieve them 8 times more than the people who have no written goals for themselves. So, do you wish to leave your life on Game of Chance or want to take control of the response? Again, do you wish to achieve what you truly deserve or what you really want to achieve? Hence, your first step should be to write down your career goals and specific growth plan during these COVID-19 times.

2.       They shouldn’t waste time: We all know that Time is fixed with us. Every day, all that we have is 24 hours and it will go away if not used productively. In this scenario, maybe one hour less of Netflix and one hour more of learning new skills will give you the desired results.

3.       They should read one book every week for life: Come to think of it, it would only take 45 minutes per day for 7 days to read one book! This is the right time to develop this habit to read one book a day. It would help you to think that when someone has spent 2-3 years writing about his life and success, we can in less than 30 hours read about it and learn from his success and experiences! No doubt, this is the cheapest and surest way to be successful. Again, as per research done at ABS, we found that 100+ CEOs and Business Owners who read 1 book per week are more successful than others!

4.       They should divide their life into small parts: Life lived in small parts makes great sense! Hence, health, knowledge, family, or whatever 4-5 areas are most important to you – improve your response in each of the parts by just 1% per month. You will realize that this small improvement every month will make your life-quality 100% better in 5 years or less with compounding effect.

5.       They should act, and not just keep planning: It doesn’t take much to realize that ideas are available everywhere and to everyone who cares to seek them.  But, the difference between success and nothing is the action that one takes towards its execution. So, act on what you have decided and planned. Only your action will lead to the career goals which you have planned. In addition, growth planning will help your future to grow more during and after this pandemic.

These are then the five things every MBA/PGDM aspirant should do to not let Coronavirus affect their Career & Growth. But, these are just the starting points. One needs to always decide for themselves what Responses they need to take up for the Outcome that they want.

And for assured success, they need to take up this Principle:

I will not Blame, Complain, or Justify and will take 100% Responsibility for my Responses!

Therefore, if an MBA/PGDM is your life path to success, it is advised that you don’t waste your time blaming the virus. You should choose the best management institution possible for your success and just have faith in the institution and yourself. So, put in all your efforts towards success and don’t waste the year just thinking and waiting!
