In order to ease the transition of students who have set upon a new phase in their academic life, Asian School of Business – which is a part of Asian Education Group and is ranked as one of the best undergraduate B-schools in Delhi NCR – launched a grand week-long Orientation Programme scheduled from Monday, 19th October 2020 to Saturday, 31st October 2020 for its new batch of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) students. However, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and keeping in mind the social distancing norms, this programme was organized virtually.
Dr. R. S. SODHI, Managing Director, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) and AMUL was the Guest of Honor for the Inaugural Ceremony of this ASB BBA & BCA Orientation Programme 2020 held on Monday, 19th October 2020.
Currently the Managing Director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and Amul India, Dr. R.S. Sodhi has been working with Amul for the last 34 years. He has done his MBA from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and began his career as senior manager sales in Amul only, which is today one of the country’s largest food products marketing organizations. Even though Amul is easily recognizable as a brand-name, but the name behind its growth Dr. R.S. Sodhi – is quite unfamiliar.
A highly distinguished personality, Dr. Sodhi has been associated with Amul since 1982, as regards it sales and management. He studied at the prestigious Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and his mentor was none other than Dr.Verghese Kurien – the “Father of the White Revolution in India”.
To talk about Dr. Sodhi’s contributions to Amul, it has been truly phenomenal! He made sure that special distributor known as “super-distributors” would cover even the remotest parts of the nation so that the distribution network of the organization could be enhanced and more people could be gainfully employed. He also brought the milk-cooperatives of West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh under the purview of Amul – which was earlier only limited to Gujarat. This has helped Amul to consolidate its presence in a wide range of geographical terrain, besides leading to an integration of these parts of the country.
Presenting his Guest of Honor address at the ASB BBA & BCA Orientation Programme 2020 from a virtual platform, Dr. R.S. Sodhi began by profusely thanking the AEG Family for the privilege of inviting him for this Orientation Programme.
Dr. Sodhi then traveled back in time and nostalgically remembered his own first day in college way back in the year 1975! Here, he shared some interesting anecdotes from his college days and talked about his own course of career growth at AMUL.
Coming back to the current pandemic times, Dr. Sodhi accepted that today we live amidst a lot of uncertainties. He importantly advised the students with his golden words, “Life is unpredictable … Don’t decide anything now. Listen, see, understand … then decide. But always remember, there’s no short cut to success. Work hard, give your best, see what are the trends in today’s time. See your strength … work on them. Success is all about hard work, hard work, and hard work!”
