ALC Orientation Program 2020: Eminent Guest, Smt. Maneka Gandhi presents a most enlightening LLS Lecture on “People, Environment & Animals”!

With a view to benefit the students who have embarked upon a new phase in their academic life, Asian Law College– which is a part of Asian Education Group and is ranked as one of the best Law Colleges in Delhi NCR – welcomed its new batch of  B.A.LL.B. & LL.B. students by launching a grand week-long Orientation Programme scheduled from Monday, 26th October 2020 to Saturday, 31st October 2020. However, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and keeping in mind the social distancing norms, this programme was organized virtually for the benefit the students who set upon a new phase in their academic life.

At the ALC Orientation Programme 2020 Inaugural Ceremony held on Monday, 26th October 2020, Member of the Lok Sabha and famous animal rights activist & environmentalist – Mrs. MANEKA GANDHI – graced the occasion as an Eminent Guest.

Mrs. Maneka Gandhi is a well-known Indian politician, animal rights activist, and environmentalist. She is a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She is the widow of Indian politician, Mr. Sanjay Gandhi. She has been a minister in four governments, most recently in Narendra Modi’s government from May 2014 to May 2019. Mrs. Gandhi has also authored a number of books in the areas of etymology, law and animal welfare.

At the ALC Orientation Programme 2020 Inaugural Ceremony held on Monday, 26th October 2020, Mrs. Maneka Gandhi presented a highly enlightening live interactive webinar on the topic “People, Environment & Animals” as part of the institute’s LLS Lecture initiative.

This motivational session was turned out to be truly enlightening in the sense that Mrs. Maneka Gandhi offered an exhaustive account of the “why do we need to look after the animals” and the way animal formed the basis of our entire existence. To quote her words, “They work for us and we are here because of them!”

As it evolved, the entire session was dotted with several references and examples in support of her exposition that explained in ample measures the “reasons why we need to have strict animal laws in place”.
