Delivered under the aegis of its “Leadership & Entrepreneurial Aspiration Development (LEAD) Program”, the live session began with a welcome note, followed by a brief introduction of the distinguished guest by Ms. Garima Malhotra on behalf of the AEG family. Commencing his talk, Mr. Jaswanth Sharanarthy first of all expressed his grateful thanks to the Academic Team of ABS for the warm welcome extended to him and said that he was “humbled” to be here to share his thoughts as a part the LEAD Lecture Series, which will be “not only a learning session for you but me as well!”
Thereafter, Mr. Jaswanth Sharanarthy got on to the topic of the webinar – viz., “UPSKILLING TALENT (COMPETENCY MAPPING & EFFECTIVENESS)” – and offered an engrossing macro perspective on the subject by way of PPT presentation. Citing the example of Google’s quantum processor named ‘Sycomore’ that in 2019 completed a task in 200 seconds which Google claimed, in a Nature paper, would take a state-of-the-art supercomputer 10,000 years to finish – Mr. Jaswanth Sharanarthy stated that the world is huge and opportunities are humongous for everyone to experiment with their talents and achieve unprecedented success for themselves. Referring to the all-round deleterious impact of COVID-19 pandemic, he said, “Volatility is killing dreams and everyone is suffering. Uncertainty is certain and complexity is not going to be resolved soon. Corporate world and India is in the cusp of Digital Transformation. Ambiguity is quite obvious. We are living in a VUCA world and how we face it, is the crux of the matter.”
The knowledgeable speaker then outlined the emerging new trends in the HR practices in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and deliberated at length on how they were affecting each of the so-called pillars of HR, namely Talent Acquisition, Capability Building, Talent Management & Performance, Diversification & Inclusion, Organization Development, Employee Relations (Engagement), Analytics & MIS, and Rewards & Recognition.
Mr. Jaswanth Sharanarthy then opened the session for questions from the participants. Several questions were put up by the students, most of which were related to topic of the day, viz., “UPSKILLING TALENT (COMPETENCY MAPPING & EFFECTIVENESS)”. To each of these questions, the distinguished speaker provided the most convincing answers.
Students and all who participated in the live session, heard him with rapt attention and collected some very important takeaways from the session.
