Game of Carrom brings forth some excellent performances from students at AEG’s 8th Annual Inter-College Sports Festival, ATHLEEMA 2020!

In several ways, sports can be said to be an indispensable part of study. In fact, school or college life without sports would perhaps be dull and dreary. Hence, in continuation with its tradition, Asian Education Group (AEG)  – which is considered as the largest centre for professional media, IT, law, management, fashion & hospitality education in Asia with world-class facilities– hosted its much-awaited 8th edition of the mega annual inter-college sports event – ATHLEEMA 2020 – on 21st-23rd January 2020 at the imposing Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Jasola, New Delhi along with a generous punch of excitement and grandeur. The mega event was much accentuated by the glorious presence of the Indian football legend, Mr. Baichung Bhutia as the chief guest for the occasion.

The competition, like earlier years, was open to all similar colleges & institutes located in Delhi NCR region. In all, 50 top colleges of the metropolitan capital city enthusiastically participated in this sports spectacle. As far as Asian Education Group was concerned, all its three constituent group colleges – namely, Asian Business School (ABS)Asian School of Business (ASB) & Asian Law College (ALC) – actively participated in this high-pitch athletics’ meet.

A number of sports were organized like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Tug-O-War, Kho-Kho, Chess, etc. One such sports event in ATHLEEMA 2020 was Carrom – which is one of the world’s favourite indoor board games. It is a game that requires skill, practice and determination.

There were a number of participants in this game from various schools and colleges like Asian School of Media Studies, Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Professional Studies (BCIPS), AAFT, Asian Business School, Asian Law College, Asian School of Business, etc.

The matches were played in singles as well as in teams of doubles. The matches up to the quarterfinal level were knockout matches. Being a knockout competition, losing a game saw the losing team go out of the competition. However, it was noticed that all the participants took careful moves while playing. A platform was provided to participants and they utilized it to their fullest. First day ended with the semi-final round. The next day game started with the final round.

After a hard-fought competition, the first and second positions in Carrom Boys (Singles) were bagged by Gopikishan of ALC and Daksh Bhargava of BCIPS respectively. In the Carrom Girls (Singles), Sanchi Rathore of ASB and Shivani Tripathi of ALC won the first and second positions respectively.
