The competition, like earlier years, was open to all similar colleges & institutes located in Delhi NCR region. In all, 50 top colleges of the metropolitan capital city enthusiastically participated in this sports spectacle. As far as Asian Education Group was concerned, all its three constituent group colleges – namely, Asian Business School (ABS)Asian School of Business (ASB) & Asian Law College (ALC) – actively participated in this high-pitch athletics’ meet.

The inaugural function on 21st January 2020 started with the auspicious torch-lighting ceremony, ignited by the chief guest, Mr. Baichung Bhutia; Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President-AEG; and Directors AEG, namely Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Mr. Saurabh Sharma and Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina. After this, the distinguished dignitaries on the dais inspired the participating students with some zestful speeches.

While Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava (Director, AEG) inspired the participants with his encouraging welcome speech, Mr. Saurabh Sharma (Director, AEG) motivated the participants to inculcate sportsmanship not just on the ground but also in their personal lives. Then, Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina (Director, AEG) motivated the participants and evoked the students to be true and honest in their actions.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Mr. Baichung Bhutia said that it felt especially great to be at AEG’s ATHLEELMA 2020 because he had never attended a college or school annual sports meet where thousands of students from 50 colleges had come to participate in the event. Encouraging the students for their enthusiastic presence, Mr. Bhutia also lamented that “students show active interest in sports & games while at school and they normally stop playing once they complete their schooling, which is not the way it should be and students should not stop playing but they should pursue their interests and skills and continue to take their games to the next level of achievement.”

Games in which competition was held included Cricket, Volleyball (Boys/ Girls), Football, Table Tennis, Tug-O-War, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Athletics (Shot Put & 100m Race), Kabaddi (Boys/ Girls), Kho-Kho (Boys/ Girls), and Pool.
